Phase 2: Voxel World Generation Begins
Started phase 2 of combat prototyping for ManaBat!
I started developing the voxel world generation system and have the framework built, with some minor tweaks still needed.
Now I have to figure out how I’m going to generate 8 biomes (+9th that will be used for mass battles with thousands of NPCs and enemies) that will evolve over time from natural processes as well as event based alteration like natural disasters. The NPCs will also alter the landscape as they expand their villages and gather resources at the direction of the player.
Finally, the magical abilities the player calls upon his elemental companions to cast will alter the landscape, leaving it scarred — reminding the player of their past encounters as they revisit locations over a millennia.
Pretty tall order, but that’s what I’m going for. We’ll see how close I can get!
